Trip to the park

Image
Two Saturdays ago, Keith was out of town. Saturdays are LONG days for us. Most families like having a relaxing day. Lack of structure doesn't go well in our home. If EK doesn't have school or we don't have church, it's hard to find things to do to fill the day.  I tried to mentally prepare myself for the day and decided that since it was a cooler day than we'd been having, we'd go to the park. Yes, I might be a tad crazy to take 3 children (one being 12 months old and another being special needs) to the park. AC was so excited though and I knew AK would enjoy more than last spring. EK loves being outside. The hardest part was keeping up with both EK and AK. We only lasted about 40 minutes before I was worn out. Next time I'll bring help or I'll wait until EK's at school so I can just chase after AK. :) We did have some fun though before we left. AC wanted to push him. Look at that happy girl!    Sweet sisters! AK loved...

Who needs a dog when you have AK? Seriously, as if the boy doesn't eat enough at meals, he likes to go under the table to eat food that has fallen on the floor! HA! :) Sweet EK after her dental work. We got home around noon and she laid on the couch just like this for an hour and a half! I kept checking on her to be sure she was ok. She hasn't napped during the day since she was 2! On her birthday, AC asked for spaghetti and meatballs (hence the reason for her dirty face). During dinner, we noticed she was eating around the meatballs. Keith asked, "Aubrey, don't you like the meatballs?" AC replied, "Well, I thought I did, but they mostly taste like meat." Hmmm...have no idea what she THOUGHT they would taste like. After dinner, I filled up the sink to wash dishes. Before I got to it, she asked Keith if she could wash the dishes since it was her birthday. Where did she come from? I love her thoughful and helpful spirit! My house is much less cha...

First Day of School

First Day of being a Monkey! :) AC is going 2 days a week again at our church. She has several friends from last year in her class and a couple from church. I think she knew at least half the class on the first day. She enjoys going so far! Her teachers are great! I miss her, but know she's in great hands!

Birthday Party!

AC and AK's birthdays are about 2 weeks apart. To make it easy, we did one party. :) We were blessed to have lots of family there. Now that Keith's parents live here, they were able to come. Dental Surgery update

It's been 2 days since EK had her dental surgery. We were scheduled for 8:30am but it ended up being a little later due to a one year old who needed emergency surgery. EK went back a little after 9am. The anesthesiologist was good about explaining things and asking if I had any questions. He assured me he was being as conservative as possible on medications. They gave her a shot to put her to sleep before they put the IV in. After they took x-rays, she ended up needing more work that we initally thought. Two teeth needed crowns because the cavity was too big to be filled. She also got 6 cavities filled. I feel like the worst mom ever! I brush her teeth every evening...have to sit on her arms so I can do the best job. Even with doing that, she still needed all that work! Flossing is pretty  much impossible. A couple of her cavities were in between teeth where brushing is ineffective. They were supposed to replace the one crown we had before (which would have totaled 3 crowns). I was...

OH MY WORD! Where does the time go? AC is five years old today. :) She is definitely not a toddler anymore. (Sniff!) My big girl! What a blessing she is to our family! I am daily blessed by her sweet spirit. She is a great sister and a fabulous helper. She is a smart and kind and bring a smile to my face. She is very sensitive to knowing right and wrong and pretty quick to apologize for having a bad attitude or not obeying me. I pray that the Holy Spirit would continue to draw her to Himself and that she would realize her need for a Savior in the future. Here are some of her favorites- food: fruit (strawberries, blackberries and raspberries) color: pink and purple TV show: Martha Speaks and Clifford movie: Strawberry Shortcake toy: stuffed animals Thing to do at preschool: play with friend Thing to do with Mommy: Snuggle Thing to do with Daddy: Giving him hugs and kisses When I grow up, I want to be a mommy. :)

Dental Surgery

Here we go again... Almost three years ago EK had to be put under anesthesia to have a cavity filled and a stainless steel crown put over another tooth. After taking her to the dentist a month ago, we found out that she had two new cavities. She also lost the filling to the first cavity and had ground a hole in her crown. I don't know how you grind a hole in that, but she did. I have done some research about cavities and some natural ways to reverse them. It's very interesting research, if you've ever read anything by Weston Price. While I would like to try his theory (and probably will in the future), I think EK is in pain now. I don't have months to let it take it's course. It's hard when your daughter can't tell you if she's hurting. The only reason I think she is is because she grinds her teeth ALL.THE.TIME! She has done it for a while, but now it is constant. I think she might be trying to grind away the pain?? I obviously don't know that for ...
