Hitting

Keith has been playing catch with AC for a couple months now. She caught on to it quickly. She certainly didn't get her athletic ability from me! When we were Christmas shopping Keith saw the baseball tee and thought she'd enjoy it. She does! Maybe someday she'll play on a team. For now, she'll just play with Daddy in the backyard. :)

Andrew is 5 months old!

AHHH! How is my sweet boy already 5 months old?? He is starting to sit up a little. He still leans forward quite a bit though. He is starting to enjoy tummy time a little more since he can roll from his back his tummy.  We tried oatmeal for the first time last Sunday. He did ok with it and kept some in his mouth. It didn't help him sleep any better that night though. We'll keep trying... Such a big boy sitting in the bumbo. He loves to sit and watch his sisters. :) It was such a pretty day outside the other day that I put him in the swing (with a blanket in front of him since he can't sit up straight yet). He didn't fuss so I think he enjoyed it. :) Nice and clean after a bath We graduated to the ducky bathtub. He was way too big to be in the kitchen sink. He LOVES stretching out his legs! Like I said, I cannot believe AK is 5 months old. As of a doctor appointment last week, he weighs 19 lbs. 2 oz (95%) and is 25 1/2 inches long (...

EK's Birthday party

Image
Last Saturday we had a family birthday party for EK. I decided to have it at my parents' house b/c EK usually does well there. (She still has trouble with people coming into our home and I didn't want her upset for her own birthday party!) I am so glad we did it that way b/c she was happy the entire time.  Here are a few pictures of how big my EK is now: Here she's laughing at Andrew Singing "Happy Birthday" (which I thought might upset her...she had cried a couple times when I sang it at home...maybe it was singing?) Eating her GFCFEF chocolate chip cupcake Opening a present Everyone went in on a sand/water table. I really think she's going to like it. AC's new favorite "toy" at my parents' house: Pop's organ Cousin M working the hula hoop Uncle Steven trying... ;) Cousin C posing AC practicing her throw EK outside...one of her favorite places

Emma Kate is 6!

My baby turns six today. That is so hard to believe! She is such a beautiful girl with gorgeous blue eyes and that sweet dimple on the left side of her mouth she's had since the day she was born. Her smile is contagious and when she starts giggling it makes my heart smile. It breaks my heart when she cries, especially when the crocodile tears flow. She loves being outside, loves her brother and sister, and enjoys going to school and church. This past year she has becomes less anxious in general. She transitioned so well to her new school in August and we can take her on errands. The hardest part is keeping up with her. You can't let go of her hand or she'll take advantage of her freedom. :) I am praying daily for the Lord to heal her body and mind so that she can communicate with us again. It's been over 2 years since I've heard that sweet voice of hers. As her mama, I just want to be able to give her what she wants. I feel very inadequate to b...

A new year...

Wow, time does really go faster the older you get! I cannot believe we're in 2012. A new year. A fresh start. I am not one for making resolutions b/c I never seem to keep them much past the month of January. I have spent the past couple days though, reflecting on this past year and looking ahead to this year. Some events from 2011: Last January, we found out we were expecting baby number 3! :) My Grama passed away in her sleep at almost 87 years old and EK turned 5. In February we had a crazy snow storm that basically shut down life around here for several days. In March we got to spend some time with our friends, the Waldrops, as they spent the month in town before moving to UT to start a church plant. In April we did some things to the house and contemplated putting it on the market. The Lord allowed me to celebrate another year of life in May. In July, Keith and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. Andrew was born into our family on August 20th and EK started going to sch...

Sanders cousins (minus C)

Last week, Keith's brother and his two older boys came in town to see the Mississippi State vs. Baylor basketball game in Dallas. Keith had planned on going but didn't feel up to it. Thursday morning they stopped by our house before returning to Houston. AC was so excited to see them, although acted shy at first. She didn't really talk to them until they went down to the playroom. Then I heard lot of laughter. AC also loves that they'll chase her. :) EK did very well! She usually doesn't like people "invading her space". When people come over, even grandparents, there is usually a period of time where she is really upset. I think part of it is that she's wondering if mommy and daddy are leaving. Once she realizes that's not the case, she settles down. (Unless we really do leave...) Anyway, she didn't fuss at all!! In fact, Keith and I started looking around the house for her b/c she was so quiet. She was right by the front door,  in a corn...
