I don't want to forget....

I cannot believe my baby is 15 months. She is such a mess, but we love her dearly. At her well check appointment earlier this week she weighed 20 pounds...such a tiny thing she is, but I know she burns off practically everything she eats these days when crawling, climbing, and cruising. She turned her left ankle a few weeks ago and I think it delayed her first steps longer. She will walk holding on to our fingers or with her toy, but no independent steps yet. (I'm trying to not stress out yet. AC was 16 months when she first walked.) She also doesn't have any real words...or at least ones we don't really understand. She understands a lot. She nods or shakes her head to tell you if that's what she wants. She points and reaches. She waves and blows kisses and just started playing peek a boo. She babbles a lot of "bah" and "pah". She says "da" or "mo"(more) occasionally.  No "ma" (Stinker!). Our pediatrician didn't seem...

Last fall, we were able to try out a communication device called a tobii. It uses two cameras to see where she is looking to make a choice. Our private speech therapist helped us get one for EK. We have had it for a little over a month now and she's getting better each day. Her teacher is using it right now for a few things. One thing she's having her do is sort food items that belong in the pantry or refrigerator. I got to see her sort at speech therapy and it was so neat! At home we mostly use it to allow her to choose her snack. Hoping we can work on it more this summer. Speaking of the summer, we're looking for a new helper for EK. Our awesome helper from last summer is doing something else (ABA therapy at a center). I was quite anxious about it for a week or two, but one of EK's first school teachers gave me a great lead. I'm hoping to hear back from her in the next couple weeks to discuss details and have her meet EK. Pray that it works out with this young la...

EK started riding a pony a couple months ago. It was fun to take her this past Friday and see how she's doing. Keith usually takes her but was out of town. I hate for her to miss one of the things she loves so I made arrangements for the other kids. (Thanks Mimi!) Thankful for the many volunteers at Victory Therapy Center in Roanoke!
