We made it!!!

EK finished her first week at ERE! :) Her teacher, Ms. Sharla, is very excited about the progress she's made this week. Everyday Ms. Sharla finds more things that EK likes or ways to work with her. EK loves the wagon right now, so they are using that as a reward for good behavior (being quiet at group time, good eye contact, talking when appropriate, doing her work). I got to observe (from the storage closet) this morning for about 30 minutes. I was really impressed how well-behaved she was during "group time" or what I might call "circle time" (singing songs, calendar, reading a book). She didn't participate a lot with talking/singing, but she also wasn't disruptive. The other students are verbal, which I'm thankful for. The more models, the better. After I left, she worked on her seatwork with Ms. Cecilia. I think the last 3 mornings I've dropped her off, she's stopped crying before they get inside the building. They all ride in the wagon t...

Back to school...

EK had the whole week off last week from preschool. I wasn't sure how this week would go since it's almost like starting over in her mind. Yesterday morning we were getting ready and I asked if she wanted to go to preschool. She replied, "Ms. Beth, Ms. Beth". Awww...that made me happy and sad at the same time. Ms. Beth was one of her preschool teachers during the spring. I was so excited that she remembered her (as I'm sure Ms. Beth would be) but was sad that she wasn't going to see her. I know EK was sad too when she got to summer preschool and realized she wasn't going to see her favorite teachers. (Not that her summer teachers aren't nice...EK had a special bond with Ms. Beth, Ms. Tammie, and Ms. Colleen..my how we miss them!) However, she has done REALLY good at preschool both yesterday and today. She worked on her fine motor skills like stringing beads and putting pegs in the pegboard. She's talking up a storm too!! Her ABA therapist filled in...

VBS and Preschool...

This week has been a crazy one!! EK started her summer preschool on Monday. Her teachers seem very nice and the other kids (all boys) do too. They are in a 2nd grade classroom, but did at least get some beanbag chairs and a trampoline(at my request). My girl LOVES to jump!! She's doing ok. Today was better than yesterday, so hopefully it'll continue that way. I haven't seen her regress yet and I'm praying she won't. AC and I are doing VBS this week. I'm teaching 3rd graders. It's been a little stressful dropping AC off at church, running EK to her school, and then getting back to church in time to prepare to teach. But, I have enjoyed it and really love teaching kids, especially things of eternal value! AC is LOVING it! She's growing up so quickly. I'm so glad she has the chance to do something fun with kids her age! I'll try to post some pictures too. Just wanted to give an update on how life is going! Please keep praying that everything will co...

How many days??

EK goes to preschool every day from 12-2:50. She started the week after she turned 3. We have been so pleased with her 3 teachers. They are precious...very kind, patient, and easy-going. (I think they have to be!) Today when I was picking her up, one of her teachers mentioned that they only have 2 more weeks with her. She has 11 more days with these GREAT ladies. Really?? The school year is almost over?? That makes me a little sad and I know they are sad too. EK won't be with them next school year. We found out last week that EK will go to her home campus next year. At first, I was ready to fight the district, but her new teacher (one of them) is wonderful too. She's a member of our church and I've known her a while. I know that the Lord knows best for our little girl. (even if it seems like a bad idea to us to change up her routine) She will be going to school some of this summer. My girl loves routine and although it'll be a different place and different teachers, I t...
