First attempt at Christmas pics

Image
Two weeks ago, my friend Sarah was in town to visit family. She also had a few openings to take pictures. I was so excited to have her try and get some cute pictures of my kids. You never know how that will go. Mainly with EK. She's been very sad in the past and even when she's not sad, she won't smile on command. Thursday arrived with a high of 40 degrees! Of course a cold front had come through...Monday had been in the high 70's. I dressed the kids in layers and told them we'd get hot chocolate afterward. AK was so cold his teeth were chattering AND he wanted nothing to do with pictures. (I think the temps had something to do with that.) We tried but got nothing much from him. EK wasn't sad but she wasn't in a happy mood either. No smiles from her. Sarah spent most of her time with AC and got some BEAUTIFUL pictures of my girl. So, this post is just pics of her....the one who cooperated!

Happy Birthday Grampa!

Image
Grampa Foster came back down to Texas the beginning of October. It was our first time to celebrate his birthday with him since his 90th. He turned 94 this past Monday. While his body isn't being as good to him as it used to, he is still able to move around on his own (with a cane or walker) and his mind is very sharp! I love that my kids are able to spend time with their great-Grampa. Sweet memories for sure! The only thing that would make it better is if Grama Foster were still here. AC remembers when she came with Grampa for his 90th birthday. The Lord took her home to Heaven just a few months after that. I know she's in such a better place and Grampa is eager to join her, whenever the Lord sees fit. :) AC wanted to make him a cake so we made a chocolate layer cake with chocolate frosting. It was quite tasty!  Grampa with all his great-grands. :) 7 now with 2 more girls on the way...our baby in January and my sister's baby in March!

Another trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Image
The Wednesday before Halloween I took AK and AC to the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch. It was finally a little cooler. One of AK's friends from church met us there. Can't believe how big these two are! They had a great time, even though it was quite crowded for a weekday. Lots of photo opportunities and then AC did the hay maze. It was a lot harder than last year and she didn't have a buddy to go with her. I was a little nervous when I couldn't see her, but knew she'd figure it out. :) Bounce house fun! Happy Reformation Day!

Image
AK has been anxiously awaiting the day he could wear his spiderman costume!! AC started asking at lunchtime today what time we were going trick or treating. :) They were just a tad bit excited. We met up with one of AC's friends and her family and took on the neighborhood. EK walked around with us for about 30 minutes and did great. We dropped her off at the house and went for another 30 minutes. Then called it a night. AK wasn't scared of costumes, although he did lots of staring. He was terrified when he heard lots of barking behind the door. He almost missed the treats several times.  Cannot believe it's November tomorrow! Where has 2014 gone?! We were just talking at breakfast how in about 12 weeks we'll have another baby in the house. That is kind of exciting and scary! Lots to do before then....

25 weeks

Image
(picture taken at almost 25 weeks by AC on Sunday, October 19th) More than halfway there! Even though it's #4, I want to try and document some things, b/c we all know that it's hard to keep up with details after just one. :) This pregnancy started similar to my other 3. I always have morning sickness, which means nothing b/c I have it all day. It hit around week 6 this time and thankfully, my worse time of day was late afternoon to evening. I went to bed most nights by 9pm b/c it was the only way to stop feeling sick. I actually woke up each morning feeling fine, which was another blessing since it allowed me to get the kids their breakfast and pick up the house a little before sickness set in again. It lasted until about week 13 or 14 and after that I've been fine. Just a little heartburn at times now. It's better if I just eat small meals throughout the day rather than 3 big meals. When I was not feeling well, I craved sausage kolaches. Seriously, I ate them se...

Pumpkin Patch time

Image
AC and I carved our pumpkin yesterday. I found the pumpkin worksheet in the background on this site . While we were digging out the seeds, we found several that had sprouted! I have NEVER seen that before. It was kinda neat, especially since we had a garden this year to compare it to. October has gone by so fast! We had planned to go to our favorite Pumpkin Patch on Columbus Day since EK was out of school, but we got a good rain the night before and I knew it would be terribly muddy. :( I may try and take AC and AK to the Flower Mound one next week, but wanted to be sure we included EK in a few pictures. We went to a small one in Keller this morning. Nothing super impressive but they had lots of pumpkins. :) I had a really hard time getting EK to look at the camera today. She wasn't sad about being there, but she also didn't really smile until the end. Oh well! I have some cute kids I think. AC thought she'd do this to try and get EK to smile. At least ...

Family History

Image
The 12-13 hour car ride home from Gulf Shores turned into a little longer b/c we detoured through MS to see where Keith's mom grew up. Keith wanted the kids to see the house she grew up in and visit the cemetery right by the church where Keith's parents got married.
