VACATION 2016 (part one)

Oh my word! We have traveled many miles between last summer's trip to NY then back to TX by way of AL first and this summer's journey to CO, up to MT and back to CO before coming home. Our main goal was for cooler temperatures and we got that. (Most places are cooler than TX in July.) Poor Eliza wasn't that impressed with how much we were in the car. I can only hope that part will be so much easier next year. We first went to the Durango, CO area. Some friends from church were camping about an hour away so we spent Thursday afternoon with them. The middles loved tubing and walking the dogs, eating hamburgers and hot dogs and making s'mores. We bought a stroller for EK right before the trip and I'm so thankful we had it. It helped me be able to relax a little and not be constantly worried about where she was.
It was fun when we started seeing mountains in the distance.

We had a picnic on day by a lake. It was very pretty.

We stayed at Purgatory Resort. Our 2 bedroom condo was perfect for us and they had several activities for the kids...one was bungee jumping on the trampoline. Both kids were a little nervous, but we more confident the 2nd day.

Friday night we went to a chuckwagon dinner. It was fun, although EK had a hard time. I'm not sure what upset her, but things like this make me sad when we can't all enjoy something as a family. Keith walked around with her after they ate. Maybe we can try something like that in a few years and she'll do better. You just never know...
